Reunion Lecture 2024. Rehabilitation Robotics: Improving Everyday Human Functions
Neural disorders, old age, and traumatic brain injury limit activities of daily living. Robotics can be used in novel ways to characterize human neuromuscular responses and retrain human functions. Columbia University Robotics and Rehabilitation (ROAR) Laboratory designs innovative mechanisms/robots with these goals and performs scientific studies to improve human functions such as standing, walking, stair climbing, trunk control, head turning, and others.
Human experiments have targeted individuals with stroke, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, and elderly subjects. The talk, from Mechanical Engineering Professor Sunil K. Agrawal, gives an overview of these robotic technologies and scientific studies performed with them to demonstrate strong potential of rehabilitation robotics to improve human functions and quality of life of people.

Reunion Lecture 2024. AI and Causality
Переглядів 4919 годин тому
Explore AI and Causality with Associate Professor of Computer Science, Elias Bareinboim. Current AI systems are driven by data, often combined with probabilistic/statistical algorithms and other tools. However, statistical associations can’t always predict what will happen when environmental changes or external interventions occur. Systems must understand the often complex, dynamic, and unknown...
Scenes from Senior Design

    Hi can you please tell how you prepared the glass slide with the stamp? Does your glass slide have a hole where the stap is?

    • @jackrollins2847
      @jackrollins2847 Рік тому

      I am working in a lab where they are doing this. the slide is layered with a small ppd square, then tape, then spin-coated pdms which is transferred on by a second piece of tape. This was not very clear, so let me know if you have any questions.

      @Haryanvi in US Hi Haryanvi! I am not entirely sure, I just use the machines as they are set up lol, but I believe the spin coater is set up for 100 rpm for 30 seconds, then the spun material is heated on the slide for 1.5 minutes at 100 C (on a normal hot plate), then when picking up any material the temperature (of the hBN, for example) should be around 40 C when the stamp makes contact. After the stamp is barely in contact with the hBN, heat the setup to 60 C, and the stamp material should relax and be completely covering the hBN. After that, lift the stamp off and you should have picked up the substrate. Finally, heat the stamp at 100 C again, but for only 15-20 seconds. This final step is to get rid of any wrinkles in the stamp. Hope this helps!

    • @jackrollins2847
      @jackrollins2847 Рік тому

      @@haryanviinus713 basically as soon as the ppc covers the hBN COMPLETELY, you can lower the temperature and raise the stamp. The hBN should be on it. To answer your question, usually at least 30 seconds.

    plz, .let me know. what is the final point of this study .because really I didn't see any benefit of 2 D MATERIAL. Spatially as we know, 2 D MATERIALS is very expensive .and the growth of this material is not enough to build devices .i I mean millions of devices.(ex: transistors as silicon material)

    Nina Tandon is so inspirational - in her area of study and public speaking. This video made me realize that I want to be a researcher who studies the biomimetic paradigm, bioengineer heart tissues and hopefully one day, be a part of bioengineering a beating human heart. Thank you for opening my eyes and helping me realize my purpose in life. I hope you, I (in a couple years) and many others continue shining light on this fascinating and jaw-dropping field.

    Xavier i Martin lies. Amancio Ortega was not an illiterate. I can not understand why Columbia University hosts this man. He is not a good man. He insulted a 8 years old girl only because she is the princess of Spain. He said that she was like the girl of The Exorcism movie. This is the kind of man he is. Shame on him.

    If they're all working on the same channel, and they're all in close proximity, then yes. Your router has to filter through all the cross-talk to send and receive your packets. Ideally you want to try and find the least used wireless channel in your area, and set your router and devices to that channel. Download a program called "inSSIDer" to view your local wireless spectrum and figure out which is the least used wifi channel in your area.

    You're right, the patent system is broken. The concept of IP is fundamentally illogical. The advent of 3Dprinters will eventually lead to the advent of nano-printers (printers that will use single atoms as their building blocks). Eventually everything will become open source, and you will be able to "print" any chemical, any substance, any product in your own home. Oh, and don't worry about the energy-crisis. That problem will be solved along the way through the revolution of this technology.

Nokero and Mandarin are even priced below us$10 4. I compiled a list of lighting solutions for rural BoP and it is on the bennu-solar database, under "solutions" How do they compare? Hope to learn the readers opinion, Thanks again, Yotam
